Our climate targets are now officially confirmed: colordruck Baiersbronn has successfully passed the validation of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and is therefore one of over 7,300 companies worldwide that pursue science-based climate targets.
The Science Based Targets Initiative: systematic climate protection
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a globally recognized organization that supports companies in reducing their emissions in line with scientific requirements to limit global warming. Companies that join the initiative commit to clearly defined targets for reducing their greenhouse gas emissions, which are independently verified and validated in a comprehensive and rigorous review process. The SBTi analyses in detail whether the reduction targets set are in line with the latest scientific findings on climate protection and whether they are ambitious enough to contribute to global decarbonization.
SBTi therefore helps companies to align their climate targets with the latest scientific findings. The focus is on rapid, significant emission reductions to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels – a critical threshold for avoiding drastic climate impacts.
Validation ensures that the climate targets set are not only ambitious, but also scientifically sound and practicable. The comprehensive review increases the transparency and credibility of the measures and at the same time promotes sustainable management and long-term corporate success.
Our commitment: concrete goals for a sustainable future
colordruck Baiersbronn is committed to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions from Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 51% by 2032 compared to the base year 2022. In addition, 90% of our suppliers (by emissions share) will set science-based climate targets by 2029.
These targets include not only direct emissions from our operations, but also indirect emissions from purchased goods, services and transportation and distribution processes. We also take into account land-related emissions and withdrawals from bio-based energy sources.
Why this validation is important
The confirmation of our climate targets by the SBTi shows that we take our responsibility for climate protection seriously. This is an important step towards making our contribution to the decarbonization of the economy measurable and promoting sustainable business models in the long term.
We are pleased to be part of the global movement for a low-carbon future and will continue to work consistently to minimize our environmental impact. Together with our partners and customers, we are committed to sustainability – for a future worth living.
