The visit to FOLBB Frischfaser Karton
Together with some colleagues from sales and purchasing, our trainees were allowed to visit FOLBB Frischfaser Karton in Baiersbronn as part of the familiarisation days to learn more about our essential product, the cardboard. They were warmly welcomed by Mr. Behm and Mr. Ahlbrecht, who accompanied all participants to the training room. Here, our trainees and employees were treated to a tasty butter pretzel at the beginning which was expressed with the sympathetic words – “an extensive breakfast must not be missing”.
Before the impressive factory tour began, our team was fed elementary information and exciting key data on cardboard production. After the tour, we returned to the training room, where the classic “question and answer” session was combined with a joint lunch. At this point, a big thank you to Mr Behm and Mr Ahlbrecht and their team – it was a really great and informative programme.
The Alpirsbach Offizin Printing Museum
After the already successful visit to FOLBB, they went on to the Alpirsbacher Offizin – the historical printing museum. There, the trainees and staff were looked after by Mr Klaißle. Mr Klaißle is a former head of printing at colordruck Baiersbronn who now works as a lithographer on a voluntary basis together with his colleague Mr Haißt (also a former production manager at colordruck Baiersbronn).
During the tour, the work of the lithographer and the litographer was explained. Lithographic printing is a flat printing process and thus the forerunner of today’s offset printing. It became even more interesting than it already was when the team was allowed to try their hand at it themselves in a great atmosphere – that made for fascination. A very thoughtful gesture: a lithographer made a print image on stone especially for the group to wish our trainees a good start. Our trainee Christina Gaiser was allowed to print one of these unique pieces under the guidance of Mr Klaißle.
The participants were also given a small insight into the development of letterpress printing. They were amazed not only by the historic Gutenberg press, but also by all the other technical developments.
It was a great finale before it was time for the new trainees to “GO ON, GET IT DONE! We wish them all a good start in their departments and are happy that we can accompany them and participate in their development!
