Students get practical insights

Last Saturday, a sustainability safari took place in our building. The event was organised by the Rottenburg and Reutlingen universities as part of the Pioneer Garden. The 13 participants – mainly students from the universities of Rottenburg and Reutlingen – were to gain an insight into how the topic of sustainability and entrepreneurship can be reconciled.

Through the sustainability team, which is made up of 9 employees from all departments, the topic of sustainability is advanced in a forward-looking way at our company. In an informative lecture, the participants learned more about sustainability issues and the resulting measures from Managing Director Martin Bruttel and our Sustainability Officer Laura Deuringer. We also presented ways to make folding boxes more sustainable – for example, by using sustainable cardboard materials, inks and varnishes. This was followed by a tour of the company for the students to present the technical solutions already implemented, such as the wood chip plant, river water cooling and waste heat utilisation on site.

Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to ask their questions directly to the management as well as to the members of the sustainability team and to exchange ideas. The event ended in a relaxed atmosphere with vegan snacks.

The sustainability safari offered the students the opportunity to experience their already acquired theoretical knowledge of sustainability in practice and to exchange ideas with our experts.
